Governors’ Information and Duties

I have three kids at our school and am also a parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. I became a governor as I was keen to help the school in its great work with our children and because I enjoy getting involved with the community. I’m part of the governing body’s Communication Committee, and I work as a corporate/commercial lawyer.

I am a dedicated and passionate member of the school community and mum to one child (Alex), who has been thoroughly enjoying his journey through the school. I am an Aussie, I have a degree in Social Work and worked for the Victorian state government until I moved to China with my husband, where we lived for 4 years. We then moved to Henley on Thames in 2014.

I am passionate about inclusion and diversity in education. I am keen to ensure that every child has an equal opportunity to learn and succeed, whilst always looking for ways to improve the school and its programs. I have been working at Sacred Heart school for nine years and I have held different roles: teaching assistant, PE teacher and now class teacher. Both my children attended the school and I have enjoyed being a part of the school community. I am passionate about helping the school continue to improve.

My name is Emily, and I am mum to Oliver, Sebastian, Elsie and Liam. We have been with the school since my eldest joined in 2014. I am delighted to be a school governor as it has given me the opportunity to give back and provide support to the teaching team, having watched as my kids have been nurtured by them through the years. This is a fantastic school with amazing teachers and pupils. I am very proud of this school and I’m so pleased to be a part of it.

As a Foundation Governor, I am proud to support Sacred Heart School, where my two children are thriving and growing under the care, dedication, and expertise of the staff.

I grew up in Rome, where I worked as a fashion designer for renowned fashion houses, including Valentino. At the age of 32, I decided to pursue a long-held dream and move to England in search of new opportunities and experiences. Settling in Henley-on-Thames has enabled me to develop both personally and professionally, while embracing new challenges and becoming more resourceful.

I now work part-time in education and am an active member of the Sacred Heart parish and Primary school. Faith, family, and community are at the heart of everything I do. I care deeply about the wellbeing of our children, the school, and the wider local environment, which is why I enjoy becoming involved in the many activities and initiatives that support both the school and the community.

As a governor, I am committed to helping Sacred Heart continue to provide an outstanding education and a nurturing environment in which every child can flourish.

With two kids enjoying a first-rate education at Sacred Heart, I want to give back my time and skills in whatever ways can be useful. My first career was in public policy and communications, while these days I work to limit the extent and impacts of climate change and nature loss, where I see opportunity for our community to take positive action.

Hi, I’m Simon — Mia’s dad in Year 6. When we moved her to the school, the staff and the headteacher were absolutely fantastic, and it really made a difference to us. I’d love to give something back and help the school continue to thrive. Education means a lot to me personally — I was the first in my family to pass A-levels and go to university — and professionally I’ve spent over 30 years working in the City as a solicitor.
