Growing Minds, Hearts and Horizons
At Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School, our vision is to nurture the whole child within a warm, inclusive and faith-filled community. Guided by our mission, To Grow in Wisdom and in Grace, we create an environment where children are encouraged to flourish academically, spiritually, socially and emotionally.
Our approach is shaped by three guiding principles — Minds, Hearts, Horizons — which reflect the values and experiences at the centre of school life.
Minds nurture curiosity, challenge and love of learning.
We inspire children through a broad and engaging curriculum that encourages curiosity, creativity and confidence. Learning is designed to challenge and support every child, helping them grow into resilient and independent learners with a lifelong love of discovery.
Hearts live our values with compassion and care.
Rooted in Catholic faith and Gospel values, we promote kindness, respect and service in all that we do. Strong relationships between staff, pupils, families and the parish community help every child feel known, valued and supported. We welcome families of all faiths and backgrounds into our inclusive school community.
Horizons broaden perspectives, community, ambition and service.
We encourage children to look beyond the classroom through enrichment opportunities, community projects and meaningful experiences that broaden their understanding of the world. By nurturing ambition, confidence and compassion, we prepare pupils to embrace the future positively and make a difference in their communities and beyond.
Together, these principles create a school environment where children feel safe, inspired and empowered to become the very best version of themselves.
Our shared aim is to provide a first-class Catholic education through a partnership of home, school and parish, where everyone can achieve their full potential and be a true imitator of Christ Jesus, Who said: Love one another as I have loved you.
In living out our mission we seek to build …
- A community where life is lived out according to Christ’s teaching
- A community with care and commitment at its centre
- A community based on forgiveness
- A community where all find acceptance and where diversity is celebrated
- A community which recognises that rights can only be enjoyed through the fulfillment of duties
- A community of servants seeking God’s will
British Values
This is a Catholic school which seeks to live out the values of Jesus Christ. We promote these values by our words and deeds, and Catholic doctrine and practice therefore permeates every aspect of the school’s activity.
We provide a Catholic curriculum, which is broad and balanced, recognising that every pupil is unique and is created in the image of God (Gen 1:27). Our curriculum is designed to enable every pupil to discern their vocation and to be well-equipped to follow it as active citizens in service to the world. Catholic Religious Education is the “core of the core curriculum” (Pope St John Paul II) and the foundation of the entire educational process.
We also provide a wide range of extra-curricular activities and strong pastoral support. We incorporate democratic principles, value the rule of law, support individual liberty and foster a community in which different faiths and beliefs are respected.
