School Counsellor
At Sacred Heart we are very fortunate in being able to provide an on-site school counselling service.
Our school counsellor is Imogen Tonder
Imogen is a qualified Integrative Child and Adolescent Therapist. She has a wealth of counselling experience with children and young people helping them to overcome an extensive range of problems.
Imogen is trained in using the arts and play as well as talking therapy to make her sessions as comfortable, fun and engaging for the child or young person as possible.
The relationship is crucial in achieving therapeutic progress and Imogen’s warm and welcoming approach is a key factor in establishing trust with her clients. She ensures they feel safe to open up to her about their worries and problems, and she will always work with them at their own pace.
She is an integrative therapist which means she is trained in a range of theoretical approaches and will tailor her approach based on the individual child, rather than a blanket approach.
She has worked in a variety of settings including schools, bereavement services and
domestic violence charities as well as most recently working in a private paediatric
practise in London. Imogen previously worked in the charity sector working for children’s charities such as the NSPCC, Save the Children and Shooting Star Children’s Hospices.
She works with a range of presenting issues including but not limited to:
Anxiety
Depression
Low Self Esteem
Relationships
Bereavement

Addictions
Family issues
Self harm
Suicidal thoughts
Stress
Anger

Referrals to the school counsellor can be made either by school staff or by parents. If a member of staff feels a child would benefit from sessions with the school counsellor, this would always be discussed with parents first. If you think your children would benefit from speaking to Imogen please get in touch with Mrs Sanders: head@sacredheart-henley.co.uk
